Queen Midas

I like to be crafty, and I love colors and textures and patterns and  embellishments. But I admit that I sometimes feel lost for inspiration and don't really know where to start a project. Or how to finish a project. Or get stuck on a part of a project. You get the idea, I get in ruts. My super talented friend Jen is always happy to lend a crafty eye to help me out, and today's post is a shout out to her. She is a triple threat; crafty, multitalented, and trendy. She can sew, paint, draw, and stamp. She is in my stamp club and always finds a way to add a just a touch of something to improve my projects, it's like a King Midas touch for craftiness. Maybe that will be her nickname, Queen Midas.

Here is Undefined, Stampin' Up!'s stamp carving kit. There are all kinds of things that you can create, my favorites are a Seahawks logo by a fellow demonstrator, and a set that has bacon, eggs, and a can of Diet Coke (a perfect breakfast). Here is the kit.

Queen Midas has her own take on this set. She paired it with existing framelits (framelits are die cuts that coordinate with stamps and the Big Shot machine), here is what she made:

These are great! I wish Jen had a blog so I could glean more ideas from her. Here is a link to her Etsy shop:

Sale-A-Bration

It's that time of the year again, time for Stampin' Up! Sale-A-Bration! My favorite time of the year when I get rewarded for spending more money on one of my favorite indulgences. I had a club night last week and here are my projects...
This 4x4" card used the banner blast SAB set and the banner SAB punch, the colors are crumb cake, real red, costal cabana and whisper white. I used the new gold bakers twine (love gold, it's hot right now!) and the super fine gold glitter (banner flag on left). New technique for me was using heat stick powder to adhere the glitter. To assemble the banner string I flipped my banner flags upside down and adhered the bakers twine with dimensionals first, removed 2nd backing from dimensionals then flipped whole thing over and stuck it down.
This little 3x3" card used the Just Sayin' bundle, stamps and framelits. The ink is tangerine tango stamped on very vanilla. Quick and easy is great, homemade thoughtfulness without taking a whole afternoon to make.

Alright, this didn't photograph as well as I hoped. The flag with the star cutout is gold, and all the "black" spots on the card are gold as well. This is a great SAB kit. It comes with supplies to make 8 cards and has different greetings to choose from. To put together these cards all that is needed is adhesive! The whole kit could be done in about 15 min, and the kit could be free with a $50 purchase!

Wow, time flies!

Has it really been a year and a half since I've posted anything? Oops. I guess time really flies! Ok, so I am recommitting to putting effort into this blog, if for no other reason than I will have a place to catalog my pictures of my projects. This week I will be updating my info and widgets, as well as getting some of my current projects up. Just so you don't think I was totally lazy, here is my latest creation. Arrived on January 2, and was 9 months in the making!
